Microsoft Access
Microsoft Access is an excellent desktop database application. It is great for
quick development and deployment of databases, with powerful form and report
designers, you can have a good looking, functional database up and running
quickly. But it is also a very powerful development tool and can be the basis
for very sophisticated applications and automation with the other Microsoft
Office applications.
Access can also be used in a departmental sized multi-user scenario. This is
commonly done by splitting the database into two files, one containing the data
and one containing the forms, reports etc.
Access is also a great front end for server based databases such as SQL Server.
